World Book Day 2026 was a truly fantastic celebration at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Academy in Billingham. From colourful costumes to community connections, the whole day was filled with excitement and the joy of reading.
Amazing Costumes and Creative Characters
On Thursday 5th March, children arrived in a spectacular array of World Book Day costumes. From classic characters to modern favourites, the creativity was incredible. Choosing winners was almost impossible — everyone looked amazing!
A Heartwarming Visit to Allington Care Home
During the afternoon, some of our children enjoyed a very special trip to Allington House Care Home. They shared stories with residents, who loved hearing our young storytellers read aloud with enthusiasm and warmth.
The children were delighted by a surprise visit from Little Red’s grandma - and even got to meet Buddy the dog! It was a wonderful moment of laughter, connection and shared imagination.

The visit was a beautiful reminder of how stories can connect generations. A huge thank you to Allington House Care Home for welcoming us so warmly. It was a heart‑lifting afternoon of smiles, storytelling and community spirit.
