Over the past few weeks, our Year 5 and 6 class have been busy becoming mini chefs - designing, refining, and perfecting their very own bolognese recipes. Today was the exciting moment they’ve been waiting for: cooking day!

Armed with chopping boards, aprons, and lots of enthusiasm, the children got hands‑on in the kitchen. They practised safe knife skills, learned essential cooking techniques, and confidently followed their personalised recipes.

Secret Ingredients & Serious Skills

To make their dishes unique, pupils chose their own extra ingredients… and the surprise favourite of the day?
Chipotle chilli flakes!
A bold choice — and very popular!

Throughout the session, children showed:

  • Great focus and independence
  • Safe handling of knives and hot equipment
  • Creativity in adapting their recipes
  • Excellent teamwork and patience

The results smelled amazing, and every child should feel proud of what they achieved.

Well done to all our young chefs - after today, we’re sure you can all make the tea at home!
